The Club are devastated to announce the passing of Club President Michael Chapple and long standing 1st XI wicketkeeper John Gibb
Michael was a long standing player and member of ECC, and could regularly be found at The Applegarth, supporting all the teams and working on the ground. He was a fantastic character, and will be gravely missed by everyone associated with the Club. Michael sadly passed away last weekend, and our thoughts go out to Eileen, Glen and all of the Chapple family. Funeral arrangements are yet to be confirmed, but we will all be raising a glass to Michael at the weekend.
John was also a long standing player and member of ECC, and although we haven’t seen him for a number of years, he will be remembered fondly by everyone at the Club. John sadly passed away on 9th August, and our thoughts go out to Katy, Andrew, James and all of the Gibb family. The family have announced that there will be a service at Hartley’s funeral directors in Colne on Friday 25th August at 14:00, followed by a short committal service at Skipton Crematorium at 15:00. Afterwards, all who knew John will be welcome back to the Cricket Club where memories can be shared and a glass raised.
A minutes silence will also be held at both the 1st and 2nd team matches over the weekend to show our respects to Michael and John
